The GFWC Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights sponsors the Summer Concert series in Linthicum Park on Benton Ave. in Linthicum. The Performing Arts Committee, under the chairmanship of Jo Barker, arranges the series which is supported by a grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and numerous organizations and individuals. Bring blankets, chairs, food and non-alcoholic drink. In case of rain the concert will be cancelled.

Pet Rock

Sunday, June 24, 2012 - 6:00pm

Pet Rock BandOn the bandstand for the opening concert will be the Pet Rock band featuring Sally Bishop and Tim Amann doing guitar and vocals with Jimmy Bryant on drums and percussion. Pet Rock is a band that sounds even bigger since the rest of the band is filled in by Mr. Midi. The group performs a variety of songs popular from the early 60's up to today's top hits.


 Sunday, July 1, 2012 - 6:00pm

SweetLimeThis concert features Sweet Lime & Passion, one of the capital region's premier arts and education groups. Trio members David Boothman, Major Boyd and Elizabeth Melvin offer audiences a "Caribbean cornucopia" of musical styles, including calypso reggae, soca and zouk (French Caribbean dance music).  Boothman, celebrated visionary artist/ musician from Trinidad, has been involved in the arts for the past forty years. Boothman comes from a multi-talented family of artists. His brothers Michael and Roger are also fine artists and musicians.

The Sixth GenerationThe members of the Sixth Generation, which was recently inducted into the Michigan Rock & Roll Legends hall of fame, will present their brand of music. The Sixth Generation captivates audiences with good music and high energy performances.   Fans are as excited now to see and hear  them as they were 40 years ago.  The Sixth Generation produces good shows not only because the members are all very good musicians, but also because they have been good friends since the 1960s when they first started performing together. Their long friendship adds a dimension to their performances that is unparalleled among bands of their genre.  


Appaloosa

AppaloosaIt's a good chance Appaloosa played your proms, school dances , CYO/Teen Centers, social functions, favorite night clubs, and maybe even your weddings over the years. Appaloosa takes pride in providing a first rate performance and being a strong dance band.This group kicks!  Appaloosa's "original" members today are Chuck Ansell- keyboards, and Mike Flaherty on drums. Gordon Holder rocks on lead guitar and Tony Cesenaro adds the bottom end bass for over the past 20+ years. The newest member Ed Knuckey has been the "frontman"  and lead vocalist for the past three years.

Eastport Oyster BoysThe Eastport Oyster Boys will be featured at the July 22nd concert. They are a troupe of Chesapeake Bay Troubadours celebrating life here in the "Land of Pleasant Living" and along the shores of the Chesapeake... through song and story, and mirth... The Eastport Oyster Boys have been acclaimed as the Musical Goodwill Ambassadors from the City of Annapolis, the Maritime Republic of Eastport and the Chesapeake.


Bayside Big Band

Bayside Big BandAlways a favorite with the summer concert audience is the Bayside Big Band.  Originally formed in 1982, the Bayside Big Band now consists of 17 professional and semi-professional musicians and vocalists and performs regularly throughout the Washington-Baltimore area. The Band strives to maintain the big band sound by playing the music of famous big bands from the 1930's to the present day.

J.R. Booker

J.R. BookerThis concert features J.R. BOOKER, one of the Maryland-Virginia area's favorite Country bands. Known for its "good-time energy" and powerful harmonies, its repertoire features original music as well as the classic country of Hank Williams Sr. and the rock-edged sounds of Big and Rich. J.R. BOOKER performs all venues large and small, and every show delivers the best country music with the finest spirit of the Red, White and Blue.

Crabtowne Big Band
Closing out the summer concert season will be another perennial favorite, the Crabtowne Big Band. Bill Yakaitis, the lead Alto Saxophonist and Saxophone Section Leader, also plays Clarinet and Flute. He is an original member and the current voice of the Crabtowne Big Band. Bill has over 40 years of musical experience in big bands and combos.  His musical career actually started in the MelloMen of Baltimore, a teenage band that played only Big Band music. He is an Elementary School Music Instructor for the Anne Arundel County Public School system.
